Speculation about the film’s fate began immediately after Madonna announced a career-spanning world tour last week – one that sold out shows in New York, London, Paris and other cities within minutes. Insiders familiar with Madonna have said her sole focus is touring, but she remains determined to one day make a film about her life.
Representatives for Madonna, Garner and Universal Pictures declined to comment on the matter.
Although announced in 2020, development on the film has extended through the end of 2022. Madonna worked on two draft scripts encompassing major periods of her creative and personal life.
