What better way to follow up consecutively Emmys and Golden Globe Award wins only with a song? After adding a few major trophies to his case this awards season, Abbott Elementary School Star Sheryl Lee Ralph’s victory lap appears to be at Super Bowl LVII next month, where she’ll perform “Lift Every Voice And Sing” before the big game kicks off.

Ralph can now count his name in an already highly anticipated Super Bowl lineup led by Rihanna. In September, the elusive pop artist teased fans with a photo of his elaborately tattooed hand wielding a soccer ball—a few hours later, The variety confirmed she would perform that year’s halftime show. Along with RiRi, Chris Stapleton will perform the national anthem, while twelve-time Grammy winner Babyface will provide a rendition of “America The Beautiful.”
The importance of playing alongside Rihanna has not escaped Ralph, who has also tweeted her excitement at being in the pop star’s company, writing, “What an honor and thank you RiRi!”
Even with his signature beaming humility, Ralph is still only Rihanna’s second most giddy fan awaiting the Feb. 12 performance—the first place goes to his partner and co-parent, A$AP Rocky. In an interview on January 18 with Zane Lowe of Apple Music 1Rocky said he was “more excited than anyone” for Rihanna’s return.
“The Super Bowl is huge, and she’s the creator that she is, she’s gonna bring it, man,” he teased. “I’m so happy that my wife is coming back to make music and so on, and that she’s coming back there. It’s just amazing.
